Easy Cream of Tomato Basil Soup

If you don't like basil, this is still a good cream of tomato soup!

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1/4 cup finely diced onion (any type you prefer)
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) canned tomatoes with liquid
- 7 ounces chicken broth or stock if you like more of a chicken flavor
- 1 large can Carnation condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon dried basil or 1/4 cup fresh basil
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation
Step 1
In small skillet, melt butter and sauté the onions, add flour and stir to moisten flour, set aside. In food processor or blender add all remaining ingredients plus the flour mixture and process to the consistency you prefer. Some like to have a few bites of tomato for texture. Unless you have a Vita mixer with soup maker ability, you'll need a sauce pan to heat the soup mixture. If you'd like more of a tomato flavor add tomato juice of V-8.
