Ingredients
- 1 C granulated sugar
- 1 C packed brown sugar
- 1 C butter
- 1/2 C corn syrup
- pinch cream of tartar
- 1 t baking soda
- 20 C freshly air-popped popcorn (about 1 cup of kernels)

Preparation
Step 1
In heavy saucepan, stir together sugars, butter, corn syrup, and cream of tartar. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, then boil for five minutes without stirring. Remove from heat. Stir in baking soda.
Place popcorn in roasting pan. Pour sugar mixture over and mix to coat well. Bake in a 200 F oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Let cool, stirring occasionally.
Store in airtight containers.
