Mom's Cherry Squares

This is a great little dessert my mom made all the time when I was a kid
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 1 can cherry pie filling (or other fruit variety)
Rutabaga-Brown Butter Mashed Potatoes

Cover potatoes and rutabagas with cold salted water; simmer 45 minutes
- 1 lb russet or yukon gold potatoes, whole
- 1 lb rutabaga
- 1/2-1 stick butter
- 1 cup hot milk
- 4 Tbsp butter
- 3 Tbsp parsley, chopped
- pinch of nutmeg
- Salt & Pepper
Zesty Blueberry Barbecue Sauce

In a saucepan, combine all ingredients stirring into water slowly
- 2 cups blueberries
- 1/2 cup water
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
Chicken with Peanut Sauce

- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 (4-5 pound) chicken, cut up
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 3 cloves garlic, pressed

- 1 (12-oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 1/2 teaspoons curry powder
- 1/3 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 head broccoli florets, chopped
