Chai Spiced Bread

1. Heat oven to 400°F. Grease bottom only of 8x4- or 9x5-inch loaf pan with shortening or cooking spray
- Bread:
- 3/4 * 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 * 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1/2 * 1/2 cup prepared tea or water
- 1/3 * 1/3 cup milk
- 2 * 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 * 2 eggs
- 2 * 2 cups Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
- 2 * 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 * 3/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/2 * 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 * 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 * 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
- Glaze:
- 1 * 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 * 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 to 5 * 3 to 5 teaspoons milk
- * Additional ground cinnamon
Cashew Caramel Crunch

- graham crackers (enough to line baking sheet)
- 1 cup salted butter; chunked
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 c salted cashews

- 1 3/4 * 1 3/4 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 1/2 * 1 1/2 cups white flour
- 1/3 * 1/3 cup oil
- 3/4 * 3/4 tsp salt 1 cup water
Scalloped Potatoes

1. Place a layer of potatoes in a greased casserole dish 2
- 6 * 6 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced (2 pounds)
- 1 * 1 Tbs flour
- * salt and pepper to taste
- * butter or margarine
- * milk, preferably hot
Potato Salad

1. Heat 1 inch water (salted if desired) to boiling in 3-quart saucepan
- 6 * 6 medium potatoes, peeled (2 pounds)
- 1 1/2 * 1 1/2 cups mayonnaise or salad dressing
- 1 * 1 tablespoon white or cider vinegar (I remember my grandmother just using a splash of pickle juice too)
- 1 * 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 * 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 * 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 * 1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
- 2 * 2 medium celery stalks, chopped (1 cup)
- 4 * 4 hard-cooked eggs, chopped
Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich Cookies

1. Remove dough from wrapper according to package directions
- 1 * 1 package (18 ounces) refrigerated sugar cookie dough
- 1 * 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- * All-purpose flour (optional)
- 3/4 * 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 * 1/2 cup grape jam or jelly

- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 egg
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup margarine, softened
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 cups powdered sugar **see my note**
Peppermint Chocolate Cookies

Using an electric mixer, beat the butter until soft
- 1 1/2 stick (6 ounces) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 pinch salt
- Two 3.5 -ounce bars dark chocolate, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon vegetable oil
- 2/3 cup finely crushed peppermint candy canes or candies
