CHEESY SCALLOPED POTATOES

1. Place a rack in the top half of the oven and preheat to 375 degrees
- 2 cups milk
- 3 cloves garlic, smashed and peeled
- Salt
- 3 pounds baking potatoes, preferably Idaho, peeled and sliced 1/4 inch thick
- 3 ounces Gruyere cheese, coarsely grated (about 3/4 cup)
- Pinch cayenne pepper
- Black pepper
- 1 cup heavy cream
BLUEBERRY-POPPY SEED BRUNCH CAKE

In a small mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy
- TOPPING:
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp grated lemon peel
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 2 Tbsps poppy seeds
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda

- 3/4 pound broccoli, trimmed and cut into florets
- 1 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

1. Heat oven to 375. Grease baking sheets with Butter Flavor Crisco
- 3/4 cup (3/4 stick) Butter Flavor Crisco Shortening
- 1 1/4 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 3 cups quick oats, uncooked
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
IRISH BEEF STEW

- 1 1/4 pounds well-marbled chuck beef stew meat, cut into 1 1/2-inch chunks

- 1 cup of Guinness extra stout

- CRUST:
- 1 (15 oz.) pkg. Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crusts, softened as directed on pkg.
- FILLING:
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 spice packet (included in specially marked boxes of Pillsbury Pie Crust)
- 6 cups (6 medium) thinly sliced, peeled apples
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice, if desired
- If you want to make this without the spice packet – add 2 tablespoons flour, 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg to the filling.
