- 1 pound ground beef chuck
- 1 pound ground pork
- 3 cups panko (Japanese breadcrumbs)
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- Coarse salt and ground pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 cups canned reduced-sodium beef broth
- grape or current jelly, cooked egg noodles, chopped parsley, for serving (optional)
Mushroom Turnovers

- 4 packages (5 ounces each) mixed mushrooms, trimmed and thinly sliced

Turkey Sloppy Joes

1. In a large skillet, cook turkey over medium heat until brown, stirring to break meat into small pieces; drain
- 2 lbs ground turkey
- 1 1/2 cups finely chopped red peppers
- 1/3 cup tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons dried basil, crushed
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano, crushed
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 6 kaiser rolls, split and toasted
