A French Cream-Filled Pastry
- 17-ounce package frozen pastry
- chocolate or vanilla pastry cream*
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 ounce semisweet chocolate, melted

Place potatoes in a medium-size bowl of cold water
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into strips
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 quart vegetable oil for frying
- 1 1/2 pounds cod fillets
