Pretty Layered Salad

In a large bowl, layer the spinach, bacon, carrot, eggs, romaine, red pepper, croutons and Parmesan cheese
- Dressing:
- 5 cups torn fresh spinach
- 1/2 pound sliced bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1/2 cup grated carrot
- 3 hard-cook eggs, chopped
- 5 cups torn romaine
- 1 medium sweet red pepper, cut into rings
- 1/2 cup salad croutons
- 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 6 tbsp red wine vinegar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp celery salt
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp pepper
Beef Barley Soup (Peaches)

In a large pot, brown meat in oil then drain
- 2 lbs beef stew meat cut into 1 inch pieces
- 1 tbs vegetable oil
- 5 cups
- water
- 4 celery ribs, chopped
- 4 carrots, chopped
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 (14 oz can) diced tomatoes
- 2 tb tomato paste
- 4 tsp beef bouillon
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp thyme
- 1 tsp basil
- 1 tsp parsley flakes
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 cup barley
Chicken Breasts with Lemon

Flatten chicken breasts. Combine salt, pepper, paprika and flour
- 4 whole chicken breasts, halved
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 4 tsp Sherry
- 3 tbs lemon juice
- 1/4 cup butter
- Lemon slices
Mushroom & Wild Rice Soup

1. In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil; add dried mushrooms
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1 oz. dried porcini mushrooms
- 1 oz. dried shiitake mushrooms
- 3 tbs butter
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1/2 lb. sliced fresh mushrooms
- 1/2 lb. sliced baby portobello mushrooms
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 package (6 oz.) long grain and wild rice mix
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp white pepper
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 4 tsp cornstarch
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream

- 1 banana
- 1 scoop vanilla frozen yogurt
- 1/2 cup ice

1. Preheat oven to 400°. Combine yeast and warm water in a 1-cup glass measuring cup; let stand 5 minutes
- 1 envelope active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water (105° to 115°)
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbs sugar
- 1 tbs baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup shortening, cut into pieces
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cut into pieces
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
Sausage-Stuffed Shells Recipe

In a saucepan, cook sausage over medium heat until no longer pink; drain
- 1 pound bulk Italian sausage
- 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/3 cup cottage cheese
- 3/4 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese, divided
- 2 tablespoons beaten egg
- 1/2 teaspoon minced fresh parsley
- 6 jumbo pasta shells, cooked and drained
- Grated Parmesan cheese, optional
Brown Butter and Toffee Chocolate Chip Cookies

Cook butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring often, until it foams, then browns, 5–8 minutes
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda

- 1 cup (packed) dark brown sugar
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar

Melt shortening and saute potatoes, parsley, onion, 1 bay leaf, salt and pepper over medium heat
- 4 tbs bacon drippings or shortening
- 4 cups peeled, cubed potatoes
- 1 cup minced onion
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 2 cups half and half
- 1 cup grated carrots
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 cup chopped parsley
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 5 cups chicken stok
- 4 tbs flour
Macaroni and Cheese Recipe

Preparation 1. Preheat oven to 350°F
- 1 (8-oz.) pkg. uncooked elbow macaroni
- 8 ounces sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded (about 2 cups)
- 2 cups cottage cheese
- 1 (8-oz.) container sour cream
- 1 cup diced cooked ham
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1 cup soft fresh breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
