I have been baking this recipe for sugar cookies for 30 years, and it's my my absolutely favorite

  • For the cookies:
  • 1-1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2-1/2 cups unbleached flour
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • For the glaze:
  • 2 1/4 cups/or 9 ounces confectioners' sugar, sifted
  • 2 tablespoons/or 1 1/4 ounces light corn syrup
  • 1 1/2 to 2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon milk/or 3/4 to 1 1/8 ounces
  • Food coloring (optional)

  • 2/3 cup salad oil
  • 1/4 cup white wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup snipped parsley
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced green onion
  • 2 tablespoons mayo or salad dressing
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill weed
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil, crushed
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 6 medium tomatoes, cored and cut into wedges

  • 1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup mayo
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon onion salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

  • 1 1/2 lb. flank steak
  • 1/4 cup sauterne wine
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

Lighter version of baked potato soup that doesn't use cream

  • Garnishes:
  • 2.5 pounds russet potatoes, washed but NOT peeled. Diced into 1/2 inch(ish) cubes
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 5 cloves of garlic, minced (if you use jarred, it's a 5 teaspoon equivalent)
  • 4 cups chicken stock or broth (Can use broth with roasted garlic and eliminate garlic cloves)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened (I use low fat)
  • 1 tablespoon seasoned salt
  • 2 tablespoons ranch dressing mix
  • Crumbled bacon
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Green onions
