Classic Sugar Cookies

I have been baking this recipe for sugar cookies for 30 years, and it's my my absolutely favorite
- For the cookies:
- 1-1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2-1/2 cups unbleached flour
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- For the glaze:
- 2 1/4 cups/or 9 ounces confectioners' sugar, sifted
- 2 tablespoons/or 1 1/4 ounces light corn syrup
- 1 1/2 to 2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon milk/or 3/4 to 1 1/8 ounces
- Food coloring (optional)
Baked Hash

Mix all ingredients thoroughly except for buttered crumbs
- 3 cups grated raw potatoes
- 1 cup grated carrots
- 2 small onions cut fine
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
- 1 lb. hamburger
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 14 cup buttered breadcrumbs
Homestyle Spinach and Mushrooms

1. In a medium bowl combine dressing mix with milk and mayo
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup crushed croutons for topping
- 1 cup mayo
- 1 packet Ranch Dressing Mix
- 1 cup milk
- 20 oz. chopped, frozen spinach cooked, well drained
- 4 1/2 oz. sliced mushrooms
Marinated Tomato Wedges

In a screw-top jar, combine all ingredients except tomatoes
- 2/3 cup salad oil
- 1/4 cup white wine vinegar
- 1/4 cup snipped parsley
- 1/4 cup thinly sliced green onion
- 2 tablespoons mayo or salad dressing
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon dried dill weed
- 1 teaspoon dried basil, crushed
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 6 medium tomatoes, cored and cut into wedges
Blue Cheese Dressing

Beat all ingredients except blue cheese in mixer on low speed until smooth and creamy
- 1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup mayo
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup catsup
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon onion salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1 (4 oz.) package blue cheese, crumbled
Beef Flank Steak in Mushroom Sauce

Place steak in the slow cooker
- 1 1/2 lb. flank steak
- 1/4 cup sauterne wine
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 can beef broth
- 1 tablespoon catsup
- 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
- 1 tablespoon instant minced onion
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1/4 lb. fresh mushroom, sliced
Potato Soup (Slow Cooker)

Lighter version of baked potato soup that doesn't use cream
- Garnishes:
- 2.5 pounds russet potatoes, washed but NOT peeled. Diced into 1/2 inch(ish) cubes
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- 5 cloves of garlic, minced (if you use jarred, it's a 5 teaspoon equivalent)
- 4 cups chicken stock or broth (Can use broth with roasted garlic and eliminate garlic cloves)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened (I use low fat)
- 1 tablespoon seasoned salt
- 2 tablespoons ranch dressing mix
- Crumbled bacon
- Shredded cheddar cheese
- Green onions
Braised Country Short Ribs

Comfort food!
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 3 1/2 to 4 lbs. beef short ribs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 carrots, peeled and cut into 1-1/2 inch chunks
- 1 celery stalk, cut into 1-inch chunks
- 1 onion, peeled and cut into 1-inch chunks
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
- 1 can condensed beef broth
- 1 cup water
Rice Pudding

This pudding turns out in a lovely custard texture
- 2/3 cup Minute Rice
- 2 3/4 cups milk
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- Cinnamon
- 1/2 cup raisins
Baked Pork Chops

These chops remain moist and tender, and the sauce is to die for! You probably have all the ingredients in your kit
- 6 pork chops
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups Italian style breadcrumbs
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/3 cup white wine
