Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
- 6 cups (1/2-inch-diced) bread cubes from a rustic country loaf, crusts removed
- 2 tablespoons good olive oil
- 1 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 ounces pancetta, small-diced
- 4 cups sliced leeks, white and light green parts (4 leeks)
- 1 1/2 pounds cremini mushrooms, stems trimmed and 1/4-inch-sliced
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh tarragon leaves
- 1/4 cup medium or dry sherry
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 1/3 cup minced fresh flat-leaf parsley
- 4 extra-large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup chicken stock, preferably homemade
- 1 1/2 cups grated Gruyere cheese (6 ounces), divided
Orange-Glazed Carrots and Parsnips

In a 3-1/2- or 4-quart slow cooker combine carrots and parsnips
- 2 pounds carrots, cut into 2-inch chunks
- 1 pound parsnips, peeled and cut into 2-inch chunks
- 2 tablespoons finely shredded orange peel (set aside)
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup orange marmalade
- 1/2 cup vegetable broth
- 1/4 cup dry white wine
- 1 tablespoon quick-cooking tapioca, crushed
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup snipped fresh parsley
- 3 tablespoons butter
Daddy's Chocolate Cake

This is Daddy's favorite cake ever!
- 1 package dark chocolate cake mix
- 4oz package instant chocolate pudding
- 16oz container sour cream
- 3 eggs
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup coffee liqueur
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 stick butter
Easy Chicken & Dumplings

For the chicken soup: Take the whole chicken and remove the meat from the bones
- Chicken Soup:
- 1 whole precooked rotisserie chicken
- 3 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup finely diced carrots
- 1 medium onion, finely diced
- 1/2 teaspoon ground thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- 6 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- Dumplings:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1 heaping tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 cups half-and-half
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley, optional
- Salt, as needed
