- One .25-ounce packet active dry yeast
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour, plus more for flouring the work surface
- 1 cup whole-wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil, plus more for coating the bowl

- 16 slices Texas toast
- Butter
- 1 pound breakfast sausage, cut into 8 patties
- 12 eggs
- 1/2 cup half-and-half
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 1 cup jarred jalapeno slices
- Sandwich spread of your choice, such as mayo, spicy sandwich spread or spicy mustard
