NINE DAY PICKLES

the only recipe I use
- Cut up cukes (you can add cauliflower, small onions (optional) and place in crock.
- Bring to a boil, 1 cup fine salt over 2 qts boiling water.
- After 3 days bring brine to boil and pour over cukes - leave another three days.
- Drain brine and bring to boil.
- 1 gallon water and 1 tbsp alum
- Leave for six hours. Drain

- 1-1/2 cups raisins
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup butter/margarine, softened
- 1-1/4 cups brown sugar, packed
- 1 grated rind of lemon
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts

- 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp balasami vinegar

Beve's recipe - the best MAKES 6-1/2 PINTS
- Drain in morning and add:
- Grind (not peeled)
- 6 lbs cucumbers
- 2 red and 2 green peppers
- 2 lbs. onions
- Let stand overnight and pour 1/2 gallon hot water and 1/2 cup coarse salt.
- 1 qt vinegar
- 1 tbsp tumeric
- 1 tbsp celery seed
- 2 tbsp mustard seed
- 6 cups white sugar
- mix the above ingredients together
