EASY PIE CRUST

Blend first 4 ingredients in processor
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1/3 cup cake flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons (3/4 stick) chilled unsalted butter, cut into 1/2” pieces
- 2 tablespoons chilled solid vegetable shortening cut into 1/2” pieces
- 3 tablespoons (or more) ice water
ASIAN NOODLES WITH PAN SEARED FLANK STEAK

Mix 1 tablespoon soy sauce, honey and crushed red pepper in glass pie dish
- 1 tablespoon plus 4 teaspoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1/8 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper
- 1 8 oz. piece flank steak
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1-1/2 teaspoons minced peeled ginger
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 1 9 oz. angel hair pasta or thin spaghetti
- 4 oz. snow peas trimmed halved diagonally

GREEN ONION AND BACON MASHED POTATOES

Combine potato and water to cover in large Dutch oven, bring to a boil, and cook 25 minutes or until tender
- 4 large baking potatoes peeled and cut into 2” pieces

- 1 vine ripe tomato, peeled, seedless and chopped
- 8 oz. white wine
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 pinch saffron
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 20 oz. chicken stock
- 6 oz. green peas cooked
- 6 strips pimentos
- 6 white asparagus spears
- 1 lemon
- 10 oz. uncooked valencia rice
POUND CAKE BLUEBERRY SOUR CREAM

- 3 cups sugar
- 1/2 lb. butter
- 6 eggs
- 3 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon lemon extract
- 2 cups blueberries
FILBERT TORTE

- 12 eggs separated
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 lb. hazelnuts finely ground
- Confectioners sugar for dusting
CHOCOLATE BUTTERMILK CAKE

- CAKE:
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 squares (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
- 2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1-1/2 cups buttermilk
- FROSTING:
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 - 3 oz. package cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Dash salt
- 3-3/4 cups confectioners sugar
- 1-2 tablespoons milk
- 2 squares (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
BASIC BUTTERMILK BISCUITS

Cut 1/3 cup butter into flour with a pastry blender until mixture is crumbly
- Potato-Bacon:
- 1/3 cup butter or margarine
- 2 cups self-rising flour
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- Butter or margarine melted
- Substitute 1 cup instant potato flakes for 1 cup self-rising flour. Add 8 slices cooked and crumbled bacon and 1/2 cup (4 ounces) shredded colby cheese. Bake as directed.
