Cherry Pie Filling

Blend sugar, salt and cornstarch in saucepan; add water and stir to mix ingredients
- 2 c. frozen red tart cherries
- 1 ½ c. sugar
- ¼ c. corn starch
- 1 c. water
- 1/8 t. salt
- 1/8 t. almost flavoring (optional)

Sift together and set aside: flour, soda, salt, and baking powder
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups Old Fashioned Oats
- 1/2 package butterscotch chips

Applesauce Pancakes

Place oven rack in middle of oven and heat oven to 375 degrees
- 2 cups (3oz/86g) wheat bran
- 1 cup (5oz/141g) oat bran
- 1 cup (6oz/170g) whole wheat flour
- 2 teaspoons (12g) baking soda
- 1 teaspoon (6g) baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon (4g) salt
- 2 large eggs
- 2/3 cup (5oz by weight/156g) milk
- 2/3 cup (5-1/2oz/156g) yogurt
- 1/3 cup (2-1/4oz/65g) canola oil
- 1/3 cup (3-3/4oz/108g) molasses or cane syrup
- 1/3 cup (3-3/4oz/108g) honey
- 1 teaspoon (6g) vanilla extract (optional)

Astoria Red Velvet Cake

1. Cream shortening, sugar and eggs
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 ounces red food coloring
- 2 tablespoons cocoa (heaping)
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 1/4 cups cake flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- FROSTING
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup butter (must be butter)
Chocolate Cake

1. Preheat oven to 350. Melt the chocolate and butter in boiling water over medium heat, until smooth

- 4 oz. unsweetened chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 c. unsalted butter
- 1 c. boiling water (I forgot this the first time)
- 2 eggs
- 1 3/4 c. granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 t. vanilla
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 2 t. baking powder
- 2 t. baking soda
- 1/2 t. salt
- 1 c. hot coffee
- Frosting
- 1/2 c. unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 2 T. milk
- 1 1/3 c. powdered sugar
- 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate, melted
- 1 t. vanilla
Italian Pasta Sauce from Fresh Tomatoes

Pour the olive oil into a large stockpot over medium heat
- 5 pounds of fresh tomatoes, peeled and seeded (to peel, cut a small "x" on the top and drop in to boiling water for 10 seconds and drop in to an ice bath. Skin will easily peel off)
- 1/4 cup olive oil (or tallow)
- 3 medium onions, diced
- 8 cloves of fresh garlic (or more to taste), finely minced
- 1/3 cup fresh basil leaves, finely chopped
- 1 sprig of fresh thyme leaves (or 1/2 tsp dried)
- 1 sprig of fresh oregano (or 1 teaspoon dried oregano)
- 2 bay leaves (remove when done)
- 2 sprigs of parsley (or 1 tsp dried)
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 carrot (1/2 should be grated and added to sauce, the other half should be added at the end of cooking and then removed)
- 1 tablespoon honey
Slow Cooker

- 1 1/2 cups cooked or canned garbanzo beans
- 1 1/2 cups cooked or canned black beans
- 1 1/2 cups cooked or canned red kidney beans
- 2 onions
- 5 cloves garlic
- 1 medium sweet potato
- 1 medium head cauliflower
- 2 cups canned no-salt added diced tomatoes
- 2 cups canned no-salt added tomato sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 1/2 cups full-fat coconut milk
- Fresh cilantro
- 2 limes
