Grilled Chicken Drumsticks with Bourbon-Cherry BBQ Sauce

- 3 cups fresh or frozen sour cherries, pitted and thawed (about 20 oz)
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/3 cup unsalted ketchup
- 1/4 cup unsalted tomato paste
- 1/4 cup unseasoned rice vinegar
- 3 Tbsp bourbon
- 1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp dry mustard
- 1/8 ground red pepper
- 4 lb chicken drumsticks, skinned (about 16)

- 3/4 cup boiling water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 orange peeled and chopped up
- 1 cup diced celery
- 1/2 cup cut nuts
