Braised Swiss Chard and Cannellini Beans Recipe

Directions Rinse the beans, and put them in a bowl with cold water to cover by at least 4 inches
- 1/2 pound dried cannellini beans
- 1 tsp. coarse sea salt or kosher salt, or to taste, plus 1/2 tsp. for cooking dried beans
- 2 pounds big unblemished Swiss chard leaves
- 6 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil, or more to taste
- 4 cloves garlic, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 Tbsp. tomato paste
- 1/2 tsp. hot red pepper flakes, or to taste
- 1 cup canned Italian plum tomatoes (preferably San Marzano), crushed by hand
