- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 3 Tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 Tablespoon heavy cream

- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Pinch baking soda
- 1/2 onion, chopped fine
- Salt and pepper
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 teaspoon minced fresh thyme
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tablespoons quick oats
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 2 large egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 pounds 85 or 93 percent lean ground turkey
- 1 ounce Parmesan cheese, grated (1/2 cup)
- 1/3 cup chopped fresh parsley
- Glaze
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 1/2 teaspoons cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce

Moist apple cake with fresh apples and pecans and a sweet praline-like drizzle
- Cake batter:
- 1 1/2 cups sugar (up to 2 cups if using tart apples)
- 3 extra-large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups vegetable or canola oil (I used canola)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups self-rising flour
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 3 cups peeled and chopped apples (about 3 medium)(I used Honey Crisp variety)
- 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans
- 8 pecan halves for pan, optional
- Glaze:
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar (I used dark)
- 1/4 cup whole milk or half-and-half
