Slow Cooker Italian Sausage Lasagna

Ingredients

  • 3/4 lb italian pork sausage
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 (15 oz) cans italian tomato sauce
  • 2 tsp dried basil leaves
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 (15 oz) container part-skim ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese
  • 12 oz (3 cups) mozzarella cheese
  • 12 oz (12 noodles) uncooked lasagna noodles

Step 1

In large skillet, cook sausage and onion over medium heat for 6-8 minutes or until sausage is no longer pink, stirring occasionally. Drain. Add tomato sauce , basil and salt; mix well.

In medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese and 2 cups of mozzarella cheese.

Spoon 1/4 of the sausage mixture into slow cooker. Top with 4 noodles, broken into pieces to fit. Top with half of cheese mixture and 1/4 of sausage mixture. Top with 4 noodles, remaining cheese mixture and 1/4 of sausage mixture. Top with remaining 4 noodles and remaining sausage mixture.

Cover; cook on low setting for 6-8 hours.

About 10 minutes before serving, sprinkle top of lasagna with remaining 1 cup mozzarella cheese. Cover; let stand 10 minutes or until cheese is melted. Cut lasagna into pieces.
