Ingredients

  • 4 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 lb. extra lean ground beef
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup uncooked long-grain rice
  • 3 1/2 cups tomato juice
  • 1/3 cup chili sauce (optional)
  • sour cream (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

In a large 10-cup casserole, layer a third of cabbage, half each of meat, onion, garlic, salt and rice. Pour 1 cup juice over layers. Add a second layer and a cup of juice. Top with remaining cabbage. Stir chili sauce into remaining juice and pour over casserole. Bake uncovered, in 325F oven for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Serve with sour cream if desired.
