Ingredients
- 2 lbs red cabbage, shredded finely
- 4 lg onions, peeled and finely diced
- 4 lg apples, or 4 lg pears - NOT peeled, but finely diced
- 4 garlic cloves, peeled and minced
- 4 tbsp. soft brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- Salt & Pepper to taste
- 3 tbsp. red wine vinegar
- 1 oz butter

Step 1
Preheat oven 360 for 2-2 1/2 hrs, or use crockpot 6-12 hours on high
Discard outer leaves of the red cabbage and cut into quarters. Cut out rood and shred. Place in a bowl. Cut apples or pears into quarters, core, then dice and set aside.
Place peeled and diced onions into another bowl and make sure all the other ingredients are measured and to hand.
Layer the pot with cabbage, salt & Pepper, apples or pears, onions, and garlic, followed by the spices. Keep layering until all ingredients have been used. Dot the top with the butter and pour the wine vinegar over the top.
