Ingredients
- 1-2/3 c sugar, divided
- 1 c flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 2/3 c milk
- 1 can (14-1/2 oz) pitted tart cherries, undrained
- 1 T butter

Preparation
Step 1
In small bowl, combine 2/3 c sugar, flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in milk. Spread into a greased 11x7 in baking dish; set aside.
In small saucepan, combine the cherries, butter and renaming sugar. Bring to a bowl; cook and stir for 1-2 minutes or until sugar is dissolved. Spoon over crust. Bake 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
