Ingredients

  • Large sweet onions, peeled - as many as you want (cooking onions will also work)
  • 1 Tablespoon beef or chicken bouillon granules/powder
  • butter
  • garlic powder

Preparation

Step 1

With a paring knife, cute out the root end of the onion(s), leaving a deep hole in the onion (don't go all the way through the onion).

Place the bouillon in the hole(s). Top with 1 Tablespoon butter and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder per onion.

Place onions, root ends up, in a baking dish. Cover with tin foil. Bake at 275 for about 2-1/2 hours.

Remove tin foil, using a fork and sharp knife, cut onions into bite size pieces. Serve onions in their gravy.

This can be thinned with broth and served as an onion soup.

This dish can also be done in tin foil in the oven or bbq.
