Best Black Bean Burgers

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup coarsely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, peeled, chopped
- 1-teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 1/2 cups canned black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cups dried coarse breadcrumbs
- 1/3 cup fresh cilantro leaves
- 1/2 cups walnuts, finally chopped and toasted
- Salt and pepper
- 1 large egg beaten

Step 1
Warning: This recipe calls for chilling ingredients for an hour before cooking.
In a food processor fitted with a metal blade, place onion, garlic and cumin.
Pulse until coarsely chopped.
Add beans, breadcrumbs and cilantro. Pulse until combined, but don’t puree!!
Transfer to a bowl, stir in toasted walnuts and season to taste with salt and pepper.
Fold in beated egg.
Form into approximately 4 patties. If burgers seem too wet add more breadcrumbs.
Chill for at least an hour. You can also chill overnight.
Cook patties in oil, four to six minutes each side.
