Ingredients

  • 2 Pastry Shells
  • 8 Medium Apples (peeled, cored, and thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Stick Butter or Margarine
  • 1 Tbsp Cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°. Place apples, water, 1/2 cup sugar, and butter in saucepan. Cook until apples are clear. Mix remaining 1/2 cup sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon and add to the apple mixture. Cook until slightly thick. Pour into uncooked pastry shell. Top with second crust and brush top with slightly beaten egg whites. Cut 5-6 small slits with knife in top pie crust for air vents. Bake until golden. (Freezes well after baked)
