Ingredients

  • FOR FROSTING:
  • 2 (large) 9in cake pans
  • 1 moist devils food cake mix
  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • 1 12 0z bottle of guiness (split 1 cup and 1/4 cup
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 cup guiness
  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 1 lb box powdered sugar
  • 1/4 CUP chocolate flavored fudge topping

Preparation

Step 1

For preparation:
Preheat oven to box cake directions. Spray oil the two cake pans and set aside.
Crack both eggs and add to mixing bowl on stand mixer, then add pie filling and 1 cup guniness. Begin to mix and slowly add cake mixture.
Mix until all ingredients are incorporated stopping once to scrape down sides with flexible spatula.
Pour equally into cake pans and bake side by side with at least 2 inches of space between pans. until skewer inserted in middle combs out with moist crumbs.
Remove pans to cooling rack.

Whip all ingredients together for topping and put in refrigerator till needed.

While cake is still hot, prick all over with tooth pick and pour 1/4 or so of the frosting over it so it melts into the cake, and allow to cool.

For assembly of cake:
Remove first cake from pan and place on cake plate. Use serrated knife to slice off top to make flat. Use more frosting to crate a layer on top. Place other cake on top and again remove top. Frost all over and serve.
