Ingredients

  • CRUMB TOPPING:
  • 1 cup Marzetti® Old Fashioned Caramel Dip
  • 1 pkg (18 1/4 oz.) spice cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/4 cup applesauce
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar, loosely packed
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 5 tbsp butter, cold and chopped into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350° F. In large mixer bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, applesauce and oil. Beat on medium 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Spread half of batter in greased and floured 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake 20 minutes or until set. Top evenly with apple dip. Spoon remaining batter evenly over dip layer. Sprinkle crumb topping evenly over batter. Bake an additional 18 to 25 minutes or until set. (If baking in a oven safe glass pan, the baking time may be closer to 20 to 25 minutes). Allow cake to cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Crumb topping: Combine brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and butter in a bowl. Cut the butter into the dry ingredients until it is crumbly. Stir in the nuts.
