Easy Cherry Pie Sugar Cookie Bars

Ingredients
- 1 pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) sugar cookie mix (I used Betty Crocker)
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling

Preparation
Step 1
1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9 x 9 inch baking pan.
2.In a medium bowl, combine the sugar cookie mix with the melted butter and egg. Stir until thick a dough forms.
3.Take 3/4 cup of the dough and set aside.
4.Press the remaining dough into a greased 9x9 square baking pan.
5.In a separate bowl, combine the almond extract with the cherry pie filling. Spread the filling over the sugar cookie dough in baking dish.
6.Break up remaining 3/4 cup dough that was set aside into small chunks and sprinkle over top of cherry pie filling.
7.Bake at 350 for 25-35 minutes, or until edges are golden brown. Cool before slicing and serving.
