  • 1-1/2 cup flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Shortening or butter
  • 2 egg
  • 3/4 cup peach jam
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 3/4 cup walnuts or pecans; chopped
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Step 1

Sift together the flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg, Set aside.
In large mixing bowl, beat the sugar and shortening on high speed until
light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, beating one minute after
each. Add peach jam and vanilla. Mix well. Add nuts to flour mixture. Add
this alternately with buttermilk beating well after each addition. Pour
batter into greased and floured loaf pan. Bake at 350°F for 40 to 45
minutes or until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean. Cool in pan
10 minutes. Remove from pan, cool on wire rack.
