Ingredients
- 8 apples peeled, cored, cut into 1/2" wedges
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup chopped pecans optionally toasted
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup apple jack
- 1 1/2 sticks butter plus 2 tbsp (both unsalted)
- 1 tbsp vanilla
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups almond flour
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 375.
2. Grease large baking dish (9x13 at least; big metal one is better). Add the apples.
3. In a saucepan bring heavy cream, 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup sugar, apple jack, 2 tbsp butter, vanilla, 1/2 tsp salt to a boil, whisking. Lower to medium and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes. Pour over apples. Use a spatula to get it all out of the pan. Lick spatula and swoon.
4. In a food processor, combine almond flour, remaining 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 tsp salt, cinnamon. Cut 1 1/2 sticks butter into 1/4" pieces and add to flour mixture. Pulse until coarse crumbs form. Stir in nuts. Put toppings over apples and bake until golden, 1 hour.
