Ingredients

  • 1 graham cracker crust
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 5 1/2 C sliced cooking apples
  • 1 T lemon juice
  • 1/2 C sugar
  • 1/4 C light brown sugar
  • 3 T flour
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 1/2 t cinnamon
  • 1/4 t nutmeg
  • 3/4 C flour
  • 1/4 C sugar
  • 1/4 C brown sugar
  • 1/3 C butter
  • *omit lemon juice if apples are very tart.

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Brush bottom of crust with yolk; bake on baking sheet until light brown (5 minutes). Combine apples, lemon juice, 1/2 C sugar, 1/4 C brown sugar, 3 T flour, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix well and spoon into crust. Mix remaining ingredients with pastry blender. Sprinkle over apples. Bake on baking sheet until topping is golden and filling bubbly (50 minutes).
