Best Apple Cake

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c chopped pecans
- 1/2 c butter, melted
- 2 c sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 t vanilla
- 2 c all-purpose flour
- 2 t ground cinnamon
- 1 t baking soda
- 1 t salt
- 2 1/2 lb granny smith apples, peeled, cut into 1/4" wedges
- BROWNED-BUTTER FROSTING

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350. Bake pecans in a single layer in a shallow pan 5-7min or till lightly toasted and fragrant, stirring halfway thru. Stir together butter and next 3 ingredients in a large bowl till blended. Combine flour and next 3 ingredients; add to butter mix, stirring till blended. Stir in apples amd 1 c pecans.(Batter will be very thick, similar to cookie dough.)Spread batter into a lightly greased 9X13 pan. Bake @ 350 X 45 min.
Browned-butter frosting
1 c butter
1 (16 oz) pkg confectioner's sugar
1/4 c milk
1 t vanilla
Cook butter in a small saucepan over med heat, stirring constantly, 6-8 min or till butter begins to turn golden brown. Remove pan from heat, pour into a small bowl- cover and chill for 1 hour. Beat butter @ med speed with an elec mixer till fluffy, gradually add confectioner's sugar alternately with milk, stir in vanilla.
