Vidalia Sweet Onion Soup

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 1 Tbsp flour
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup red cooking wine
  • 2 10 oz cans condensed beef broth
  • 1 loaf french bread
  • croutons



Step 1

In 4 quart saucepan over medium heat, cook onions in hot butter for 10 mins
Stir in flour until well blended with the onions and pan juices
Add water, wine and undiluted beef broth, heat to boiling
Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer 10 mins
Ladle soup into 4 12 oz bowls and garnish with croutons
Accompany the soup with cheese wedges and French bread
