  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 ¾ cup unsifted flour
  • ¼ cup shortening
  • ¾ teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups sugar
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ¾ cup milk
  • ¾ cup cocoa

Step 1

1. Generously grease and flour two 9” round pans. Cream butter, shortening, sugar, and vanilla until fluffy. Blend in eggs.

2. Combine cocoa, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in bowl. Add alternately with milk to batter. Blend well. Pour into pans, 350°F. 30-35 minutes.

3. Cool 10 minutes. Remove from pans.
