- 2-3 tsp bacon drippings
- 2 c buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 1 3/4 c white cornmeal
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 450.
Coat bottom and sides of a 10" cast-iron skillet with bacon drippings.
Whisk together buttermilk and egg.
Add cornmeal, stirring well.
Whisk in baking powder, soda, and salt.
Pour batter into hot skillet.
Bake at 450 for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
