Ingredients

  • 2 cups chopped onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 8 cups coarsely chopped peeled tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon basil leaves
  • 1 teaspoon crushed rosemary leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 7 1/2 oz can tomato paste

Step 1

In 4 qt saucepan cook onions and garlic in oil until onions are tender Add remaining ingredients, bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat, simmer uncovered 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Store in tightly covered containers in refrigerator up to 1 week or in freezer up to 3 months.
