Overnight Apple French Toast

By

Another version similar to my sister's Skiers French Toast, but with apples! I made this for teacher appreciation breakfast, with several request for the recipe. Here it is teachers! I made the syrup, but it ended up on the floorboard of our jeep! Oops. As you tasted, the french toast is great without.

Preparation

Step 1

In small saucepan, cook brown sugar, butter and corn syrup until thick, about 5-7 minutes. Pour into an ungreased 13 in. x 9 in. x 2 in. baking dish; arrange apples on top. In a bowl, beat eggs, milk, vanilla and dashes of cinnamon and nutmeg together. Arrange french bread on top of apples. Pour egg mixture on top of bread, covering every slice. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking.* Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Combine syrup ingredients in a saucepan; cook and stir until heated through. Serve with French toast.

*If you have an opportunity to buy some Sweet Cinnamon Sprinkles from Pampered Chef, I highly recommend it. I sprinkle some to lightly cover the surface just before I bake it, which has been a yummy addition to this recipe and the one to follow.
