Seared Pork chops with mushrooms

Ingredients

  • 4 pork chops - center cut 3/4 inch thick
  • 4 slices provolone cheese slices
  • 2 large tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon powdered ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Mushrooms 12 oz button mushrooms
  • 1 Tablespoon balsamic or red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Step 1

Clean & quarter mushrooms set aside

Heat oven to BROIL - Line baking sheet with foil.

Rinse chops, pat dry. Season with white pepper ginger garlic powder & salt. let stand few minutes before cooking.
Heat a Large heavy duty skillet (w/ small amount olive oil) over high heat. Sear chops 2 minutes each side then reduce heat to medium cook til done.

TOP each pork chop with tomato slices & provolone cheese.
Broil til cheese is bubbly & lightly brown.

While chops are broiling - add mushrooms to [pork chop pan] add vinegar, stir- add mushrooms and salt - stir again. After about 1 minute juices will come out of mushrooms. cook about 3 minutes total til done.
