Ingredients
- 1 lb. 10 oz. cooking apples
- 9 oz. plain flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 oz. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 pint milk
- fat for deep frying
- 2 oz sugar for sprinkling

Step 1
Wash, peel and core the apples. Cut into 1/2" rings.
To make the batter, sieve the flour and baking powder into a bowl. Make a well in the center and add the sugar and egg. Starting from the middle, carefully mix the egg into the flour, gradually adding the milk, until the batter is smooth and good dropping consistency.
Dip the apple rings into the batter and put into the very hot fat. Fry until golden brown on both sides (1-2 minutes), remove from the fat and sprinkle with sugar.
