cut fennel bulbs horizontally into 1/3 inch thick slices and put in a 13x9.x2 glass baking dish and sprinkle with olive oil and salt and pepper and cook in a 375 degree oven for 45 minutes or so. Near end of baking sprinkle on parmesan cheese. I tried this on 6/1/09 ad I loved it. Jackie did not. It was very licoricy and it was very good. I also sprinkled on a few fonds (green stems) sliced very thin.
