Ellyn's Toffee cookies

Easy to make toffee cookies are a perfect treat! Shortbread type crust topped with chocolate and nuts.

Ingredients
- 1/2 pound butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1 egg yolk beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 (6-ounce) packages chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup nuts

Preparation
Step 1
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolk, vanilla and beat. Add flour a little at a time mixing well after each addition. Spread batter evenly onto a greased baking sheet ( 16x11x1).
Bake at 350°F, 17 minutes.
While baking, melt chocolate chips in double broiler or microwave. Spread on cookies. Sprinkle nuts on while chocolate is still warm. Cut in squares.
