Ingredients
- 3 cups fresh sliced peaches
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup sugar, divided
- 1 12 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup water
- 1 stick margarine
- 1 cup flour

Preparation
Step 1
Mix the 1 cups of sugar in the cup of water and boil for 5 minutes. Pour over peaches and let stand while preparing batter.
Melt margarine in 9x17" dish in oven.
Sift flour, baking powder, salt & 3/4 cup of sugar. Add milk and beat well with wire whisk. Pour over melted butter - DO NOT STIR.
Spoon peaches and juice over batter. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup of sugar.
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Batter will rise to the top.
Serve plain, with whipped cream or ice cream.
