Ingredients
- 3 lbs Texas 1015, Vidalia, or other sweet onions, or yellow onions, peeled and cut into 1/4 inch thick slices.
- 1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter or 4
- tablespoons olive oil.
- Freshly ground pepper, to taste.
- Salt, to taste.

Step 1
Layer onions in a slow cooker. Slice butter and toss on top, or drizzle with olive oil. Cover and cook on low for 12 to 14 hours, until onions are very deep brown and very soft. (You can't overcook these). Add pepper and salt to taste.
Makes about 3 1/2 cups or 4 servings.
