  • 28 ounces canned tomatoes chopped (not drained)
  • 1 yellow onion diced
  • 1 diced jalapeno de-seeded and de-veined
  • 2 stalks celery chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper chopped
  • 1 tablespoon cumin powder
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • Sift together:
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • In a saucepan, bring to a boil:
  • 2 sticks of margarine
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 rounded tsp. cocoa
  • In a small bowl, beat 2 eggs. Add 1/2 cup sour milk (1 1/2 tsp. lemon juice or vinegar plus milk to equal 1/2 cup.) Then add:
  • 1 tsp. vinegar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
