Panda Express Orange Chicken

Place chicken pieces in large bowl
- 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken, chopped into bite sized pieces
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- white pepper
- oil (for frying)
- 1/2 cup cornstarch, plus
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 tablespoon gingerroot, minced
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed hot red chili pepper
- 1/4 cup green onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon rice wine
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
- Orange Sauce for Stir Fry
- 1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 1/2 tablespoons water
- 5 tablespoons sugar
- 5 tablespoons white vinegar
- 1 orange, zest of
Chicken Noodle Soup

Soup: Place a soup pot over medium heat and coat with the oil
- Soup:
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 medium carrots, cut diagonally into 1/2-inch thick slices
- 2 celery ribs, halved lengthwise, and cut into 1/2-inch thick slices
- 4 fresh thyme sprigs
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 quarts chicken stock (recipe follows)
- 8 ounces dried wide egg noodles
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cooked chicken
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 1 handful fresh flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
- Chicken Stock:
- 1 whole free-range chicken (about 3 ½ pounds), rinsed, giblets discarded
- 2 carrots, cut in large chunks
- 3 celery stalks, cut in large chunks
- 2 large white onions, quartered
- 1 head of garlic, halved
- 1 turnip, halved
- ¼ bunch fresh thyme
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 teaspoon whole black peppercorn
Basic Dessert Crepes

Here is the basic recipe for crepes
- 1 1/4 cup flour
- 2 T sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1/4 tsp lemon, rum or brandy extract (optional)
Asian Ramen Noodle Salad

Cook the ramen noodles in the butter and olive oil for a few minutes
- Dressing:
- 1 head of napa cabbage, cleaned and patted dry
- 1 package ramen noodles, season packet removed, noodles crumbled
- 3 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup of red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup of cashews
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- generous pinch of salt and pepper
- 1 carrot, thinly cut
- 2 ribs of celery, thinly cut
- 1/2 cucumber, seeds removed, thinly cut
- 1/2 cup of frozen, petite peas
- 1/3 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of olive oil
- 1/2 cup of cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- dash of dark sesame oil
- pinch of pepper
Freaky Frankenstein Cupcake

Stack three green gumdrops on top of each other to form Frankenstein's face and body
- 3 green gumdrops on top of each other to form Frankenstein's face and body Black licorice for his limbs and forehead
- 1 black gumdrop for the hair
- Small piece of red licorice forms a grim mouth
- 2 black sprinkle eyes, plus a tasty green nose.
Peach Ginger Iced Tea

Mash 6 canned peach halves with 1 1/2 cups of the juice, 1/3 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon grated ginger in a pitcher
- 6 canned peach halves
- 1 1/2 cups of the juice
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 6 cups cold English breakfast tea
Italian Bread Pudding

Many cultures have their own version of bread pudding – everyone seeks a use for day-old bread
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 large loaf day-old or toasted Italian bread
- 6 eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/4 cup anisette liqueur (optional)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Artichoke Soup

The soup is wonderfully rich, smooth, and creamy
- The hearts from 5 large artichokes (see How to trim an artichoke)
- 7 Tbsp butter (3.5T)
- 1 medium size leek, white-and-light green part, sliced and rinsed (1 small)
- 6 garlic cloves, chopped (3)
- 1/2 cup chopped shallots (or yellow onion, if shallots aren't available) (1/4)
- 8 oz of Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and diced (4 oz)
- 12 cups of vegetable or chicken stock(6 cups)
- 1/2 bay leaf
- 2 sprigs thyme (1)
- 4 sprigs of parsley (2)
- 1/4 teaspoon cracked black peppercorns (1/8)
- 1/2 cup of cream (1/4)
- Salt to taste
Warm Fingerling Potato Salad

1. Place potatoes in a 1-1/2-quart microwave-safe casserole dish
- 1 lb. fingerling or new potatoes, halved
- 1 cup fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 shallot, chopped
- 2 Tbsp. white or red wine vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. snipped fresh parsley
- 2 tsp. Dijon-style mustard
- 1 tsp. snipped fresh rosemary or 1/4 tsp. dried rosemary, crushed
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup pitted Nicoise olives, halved
