Linguine with Onion, Bacon, and Parmesan

In a large frying pan, cook the bacon until crisp
- 1/2 pound sliced bacon, cut crosswise into 1/2-inch strips
- 2 onions, sliced thin
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/8 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 pound linguine
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh-ground black pepper
Reform Jewish Penicillin

Serves 4 or more Put everything except the noodles in a big soup pot over medium-high heat
- 3 pounds chicken wings, or a mixture of wings and thighs
- 2 quarts water (or to cover the chicken and vegetables)
- 2 carrots (My husband likes to eat the soup carrots so I peel them first.)
- 2 onions, quartered
- 2 parsnips
- 2 stalks celery, preferably with leaves
- A big handful of fresh parsley
- 4 cloves of garlic, lightly smashed
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
- 1/2 pound fine egg noodles
- FOR THE PATAGONIAN PEBRE SAUCE(REFORM IT)
- 1 cup finely chopped tomatoes (It’s winter; I use Pomi or Muir Glen)
- 1 small sweet onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup finely chopped Italian parsley
- 1/3 cup good olive oil
- 1/4 cup sherry or red wine vinegar
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne

German Chocolate Mini Cakes

Preheat the oven to 350°F
- 3/4 3/4 1/2 6 (1 1/2 sticks, 6 ounces) unsalted butter*

- to 1/4 use salted butter, reduce the salt in the recipe to 1/4 teaspoon.

- 1/2 1/2 1/2 cup (4 ounces) heavy cream
- Topping
- 6 6 6 tablespoons (3 ounces) unsalted butter

- 1/4 1/4 1/4 cup (2 ounces) half and half or milk
- 1 1 1/2 cup (7 1/2 ounces) light brown sugar

Lemony Angel Food Cake

Make the cake: Preheat oven to 325 degrees, with rack in lower third of oven
- 1 cup sifted cake flour, (not self-rising)
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 12 large egg whites
- 2 tablespoons finely grated lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice (from 2 lemons)
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- For the Lemon Cream
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cake flour (not self-rising)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream, chilled
- 1 tablespoon finely grated lemon zest
- For the Candied Lemon-Peel Flowers
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (from 4 lemons)
- 2 cups water

- 2 1/2 teaspoons regular instant yeast or active dry yeast
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
- 3 cups King Arthur Unbleached All-Purpose Flour
- 1/4 cup potato flour OR 1/2 cup potato flakes
- 1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon lukewarm water (potato water, if you have any saved)
- 3/4 cup lukewarm milk
