Meatballs in Fresh Tomato sauce

Saute onions in oil over med-high heat in a large pain until translucent, about 4 min
- Stir in:
- Saute in 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 1/2 cups yellow onion, diced
- 2 tsp garlic, minced
- Add and Simmer:
- 3 cans (14 1/2 oz each) whole plum tomatoes, crushed
- 1/2 cup reserved meat ball pan drippings
- 1 TAblespoon sugar
- 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- Salt to taste
- Add and Simmer: 12 cooked meatballs
- Stir in:
- 1 lbs cooked pasta
- Before serving, add:
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, cut in strips
- Garnish with:
- Parmesan cheese, grated

- 1 egg yolk, beaten
- 1/4 to 1/3 cup lemon juice

- 8 eggs
- 3 cups milk
- 3/4 cup sugar, divided
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 5 Granny Smith apples, peeled, sliced
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
