Spice Cookies

Onto sheet of wax paper or a paper plate sift together flour cinnamon, ginger,
- 5 cookies each
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon each ground ginger, double-acting baking powder, and baking soda
- 1/8 teaspoon each ground cloves and salt
- 2 tablespoons each margarine and firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons ice water
- 1 tablespoon confectioners sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon hot water
- I drop each red and green food coloring

- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 3/4 teaspoon salt

- 12 ounces pared potatoes, coarsely grated
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon grated onion
- 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon vegetable oil

Cornish Hens With Lemon Sauce

To prepare cornish hens: preheat oven to 375 degree f
- Cornish hens:
- 2 cornish hens, about 1-1/4 pounds each, cut into halves
- Dash each salt and pepper
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- Sauce:
- 1 packet instant chicken broth and seasoning mix
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon slivered lemon peel, blanched
- 1 tablespoon each lemon juice and dry sherry
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch, dissolved in
- 1 tablespoon water
- 2 teaspoons firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- Garnish:
- 4 chicory leaves
