Oatmeal Toffee Cookies

Preheat oven to 375°. Cream together the shortening and sugars
- 1/2 Cup butter-flavored shortening (or regular shortening or butter)
- 1/2 Cup sugar
- 1/2 Cup packed brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 TB. water
- 1 tsp. PURE VANILLA EXTRACT
- 1 Cup flour
- 1 Cup quick-cooking oats (old-fashioned oats work, too)
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 Cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 Cup dried cranberries
- 1/2 Cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 Cup toffee bits (sold by the chocolate chips)
Spicy Hot Chicken Soup

Cut the chicken meat into 3/4-inch cubes
- 4 boneless/skinless chicken breast pieces(about 2#)
- 1 TBSp crystallized ginger
- 2 TBSP vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, minced
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1/2-1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 10 Cups water
- 1/4 tsp salt, to taste
- 1-2 tsp soy sauce
- 1-2 tsp hot sauce, otional
- 1/4 lb. extra wide egg noodles
