Grown-Up Prosciutto & Cheddar Hot Pockets — Breakfast Recipes from The Kitchn | The Kitchn

Thankfully it's beyond easy (and so much better!) to make these store-bought favorites at home
- 2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed according to package directions
- 1 packed cup grated cheddar cheese (about 3 ounces)
- 3/4 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon ground mustard powder
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 1/8 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/8 teaspoons hot sauce, such as Tabasco
- 3 ounces diced prosciutto or ham
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
Garlicky Guacamole

Make no more than a couple hours before serving
- 4 avocados
- juice of 1 lime
- 2 cloves garlic, minely minced
- 4 green onions, chopped
- 4 TBSP chopped fresh cilantro
- salt and pepper to taste
- several dashes of hot sauce or to taste (optional)
Asian Noodle Salad

This cold noodle salad makes perfect picnic fare, and it can be prepared a day ahead
- 1 pound udon noodles
- 2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
- 6 tablespoons peanut butter
- 6 tablespoons tahini (sesame paste)
- 6 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sherry
- 4 teaspoons rice wine vinegar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 4 medium cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger
- 1 to 2 teaspoons hot chili oil (depending on your heat preference)
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 3 tablespoons chopped green onions (divided)
- 1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds
- 16 fresh pea pods, sliced in half lengthwise
Spicy Mexican Chocolate Tart

This recipe was adapted from one found in Bon Appetite online
- Crust:
- 1 cup chocolate wafer cookies (about half of a 9-ounce package), finely ground in food processor
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- Filling:
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped (can use 60%-cocoa chocolate chips)
- 1 disk Mexican chocolate, chopped (available in ethnic sections of some grocery stores or in Hispanic markets)
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, cut into 4 pieces, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Lightly sweetened whipping cream and fresh fruit for garnish
