This divinity recipe suggests a mixture of walnuts and dried cherries, giving it a bit of a different flavor
- 2 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 egg whites
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup walnuts OR 1/2 cup walnuts & 1/2 cup dried cherries
Ginger Cookies

- 3/4 cup vegetable shortening
- 1 cup sugar, plus more for rolling
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp salt
Puff Rice Candy

Cook syrup and sugar to a soft ball, then add butter and stir
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup Karo Syrup - dark
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 bag puffed rice (quaker cereal)
Turmeric Milk

Turmeric is known for many healing and healthy properties
- Or you can make a Pre-Made spice mix:
- 1 cup coconut milk (Thai Kitchen Organic preferred)
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 1 inch sliced piece of fresh ginger
- raw honey, to sweeten
- 3 Tbsp turmeric
- 2 tsp black pepper
- 1 Tbsp powdered ginger
- Mix all ingredients well and add 1 tsp spice mix per 1 cup of coconut milk
Butternut Squash Slaw

This is a great slaw, made with raw butternut squash
- Dressing:
- 2 lbs butternut squash, julienne on a mandolin
- 1 cup walnuts, roasted and chopped
- 1 1/2 cups raisins or dried cranberries
- 1/4 cup italian flat leaf parsley, chopped
- 4 oz fresh goat cheese, room temp *you can omit this if you don't like the cheese
- 3 Tbsp Brown Rice Syrup OR Honey
- 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
- juice of 1 lemon
- 6 Tbsp EVOO
- salt and pepper to taste
Butter Cookies (Gh' Rei Beh)

A traditional Lebanese cookie that you will love
- 1 lb. sweet butter, room temperature
- 1 cup confectioners sugar
- 5-5 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 tsp grated lemon peel
- 1/4 lb. blanched almonds
Peppered Herb-Yogurt Dressing

Yields 3/4 cup
- 1/2 cup plus 1 Tbsp plain whole milk yogurt
- 1 tsp coarsely cracked black peppercorns
- 1/2 tsp very finely chopped garlic
- 3 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1/4 cup chopped mixed herbs, such as chives, dill and tarragon
- Kosher salt
Rice Balls - Arancini

The prep for this does take a long time, but it is well worth it
- RICE MIXTURE:
- 1 medium bag of rice (the cheaper the rice the better, Uncle Ben's works great)
- 1 package of saffron
- 2 cartons/quarts of chicken stock
- 1 1/2 cups of grated Romano cheese
- 1 stick butter, softened
- 6 egg yolks
- FILLING:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small can tomato paste
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 box/bag frozen peas, thawed
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp sugar
- OUTSIDE:
- Italian style breadcrumbs
- 6 egg whites + 2 Tbsp water
- oil for deep frying

- 1 1/2 cups catsup, preferably Heinz
- 1 cup cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce, preferably Lea and Perrins
- 1/4 cup reduced sodium soy sauce, you can substitute with Liquid Aminos
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp dry mustard
- 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1/2 cup chili powder
- 2 garlic cloves, grated
- 1 (2 inch) know fresh ginger, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch rounds
- 1 lemon, cut into 1/2 inch thick slices
Dad's Remarkable Fudge

My dad is my greatest inspiration and he has made this fudge every Christmas, for decades
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 5-1/3 oz can evaporated milk (2/3 cup)
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 12 oz package semisweet chocolate pieces (2 cups)
- 1 7 oz jar marshmallow creme
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- Yields 2 1/2 pounds of candy
